Plastic bottles are among the top 5 plastic items found in the oceans. Every minute, 1 million plastic bottles are being bought. In total, that represents 480 billion bottles yearly, a jump from 300 billion just 10 years ago.
If no measure is taken to phase out, or simply get rid altogether of single-use plastics, the world’s annual consumption of plastic bottles is set to top half a trillion by 2021.
