Seven Clean Seas targets communities in areas where plastic pollution is prolific and waste management non-existent. A good example of this is an Orang Laut (Sea Gypsy) village called Kawal in Bintan, Indonesia. We partner with local businesses or organisations to mobilise the local community, universities, schools and religious groups to bolster numbers. The plastic collection events span half a day and always incorporate an educational element afterward.
When Seven Clean Seas works with local communities, universities, schools and religious groups our organisation always aims to have lasting impact on the mindsets of these individuals, by empowering each volunteer to become stewards of their environment in fighting plastic pollution. As well as the physical removal of plastics from the ocean, building awareness surrounding this issue prevents plastic from entering the oceans upstream.
All the marine debris we collect is third party verified by reputable waste management companies. Every cleanup we receive a weight receipt which goes into our working ledger as a positive value for kg’s collected.
About the Project Developer
At Seven Clean Seas, our mission is to lead a resistance against marine plastic pollution, conserve bird / marine life and educate as we go on the perils of irresponsible plastic consumption in our daily lives. The issue is gargantuan, but we are devoted to pursue the goal of a world with oceans free from marine plastic. A world where marine and bird life don’t suffer unnecessarily. And a world where humans live in harmony with the world and all its oceans.
