Plan A and Alphabet, the renowned leasing and mobility provider, today announced an exclusive long-term partnership to provide fleet managers with the software tools and expertise to account for their fleet emissions, identify and take effective action to decarbonise their operations, and eventually mitigate their climate impact. Based on Plan A’s leading corporate carbon accounting, decarbonisation, and ESG reporting software solutions, both organisations have co-developed the “Alphabet Carbon Manager”, the first-of-its-kind emissions management and decarbonisation platform made-to-measure for fleet businesses. Alphabet customers in 11 European markets will have access to the tool, starting in Germany in Q3 with the others to follow later this year
Latest Alphabet study shows: merely 37% of customers currently track their emissions
With its just released European Fleet Emission Monitor (EFEM), Alphabet reveals fleet managers’ urgent need for a comprehensive emissions management and decarbonisation tool. As the study shows, more than 83% of Alphabet customers recognise the significance of reducing their fleet’s emissions, whereas a mere 37% have already started tracking and monitoring them. With new regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) coming up and posing a significant risk to their businesses, fleet managers are required to adopt sustainable practices and implement effective actions to measure and reduce their carbon footprint.
Striving to support its customers along their sustainability journey, Alphabet has already been offering inhouse consultancy on sustainability. With the new partnership, Alphabet now takes it even further to empower genuine change in the fleet management industry. The “Alphabet Carbon Manager” gives fleet managers access to a full-stack sustainability platform tailor-made to their needs and requirements.
Plan A’s science-based SaaS solutions cover entire decarbonisation journey
By automatically mapping all necessary data across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 and merging them with national emission factors and datasets, the “Alphabet Carbon Manager” is able to provide fleet managers with granular emissions profiles and cross-fleet benchmarks in dynamic dashboard overviews. Based on the indicators with the most significant reduction potential, the software empowers Alphabet’s customers to set science-based net-zero targets and achieve them through industry-specific decarbonisation solutions and activities. At the end of this holistic process, the platform produces audit-proof CSRD and ESG reporting.
To meet the highest scientific standards, all platform-embedded calculations and decarbonisation solutions are fully aligned with internationally recognised scientific methodologies and standards such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The scientific accurateness of the applied Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) calculation methodology is certified by TÜV Rheinland, one of the world's leading verification bodies.
Markus Deusing, CEO of Alphabet International: “The reasons why companies don’t know their fleet’s actual emission value vary. However, the lack of a holistic monitoring tool being the most pressing one. This is the most striking insight we’ve gained with our EFEM. As a mobility provider, we are conscious of our responsibility to support our customers even better in monitoring. That's why I'm very happy to announce today the collaboration with Plan A which will give our customers access to an exclusive, jointly developed Emissions Manager as a part of our holistic consulting approach with Alphabet Emission Consulting that will contribute to reaching their sustainability targets. We know that the fleet is only one part of the carbon emissions from our customers. And with Plan A, we have a reliable partner which is also capable of supporting our customers with a global carbon accounting project including all other business fields related to carbon emissions besides fleet.”
Lubomila Jordanova, CEO of Plan A: “Road transport makes up for more than a quarter of total carbon emissions in the EU and thus holds enormous potential for decarbonisation. We are incredibly proud to announce our partnership with Alphabet today to join forces in the fight against climate change. Together, we'll equip fleet managers across Europe with the tools and services they need to get full visibility on their emissions, transform and future-proof their fleets and businesses, and comply with current and upcoming regulatory requirements.”
