This is official; Plan A is certified by TÜV Rheinland for its Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) calculation methodology. Plan A is the first carbon management and ESG platform to be granted a TÜV Rheinland certificate. As a Greentech company, we assist companies globally in reducing their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, that is why it is crucial to have our methodology certified to ensure that our clients access the most accurate data rooted in science.
What is TÜV Certification?
Highly recognised worldwide as a trademark of trust and quality, TÜV certification ensures that a product, service, or process has been tested for safety and that it complies with the requirements of national, regional, and international regulations. TÜV Rheinland is the largest of the three major TÜVs in Germany and the most globally recognised certificate.
We have worked with Plan A within the framework of certifying their Corporate Carbon Footprint Calculation method and have really enjoyed the smooth cooperation with a highly motivated and qualified team of corporate emission accounting experts.
TÜV Rheinland, august 2021
Following the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, TÜV RHEINLAND certified that our CCF methodology is scientifically based and reflects state of art. The approach and principles behind the methodology are relevant for CCF assessment for selected target companies. Furthermore, the data used and the approach for target setting and optimisation measures are appropriate for the goal and scope of the method.
The Plan A Platform: accurate calculation, sustainable reduction
To calculate the ecological footprint of companies as accurately as possible, Plan A’s carbon accounting and ESG management platform follows the methodology of the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard. The software collects the necessary company data across – depending on the industry – all relevant emissions scopes (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and merges them with appropriate National Emission Factors. The application then derives tangible emissions estimates and monitors them over time to visualise progress and compare them to industry benchmarks or targets enshrined in the Paris Agreement.

Plan A believes that it is not enough to create visibility for a company’s current carbon footprint. Instead, the software engine actively helps companies set Paris Agreement-compliant net-zero targets and achieve them through more than 1,000 decarbonisation solutions and activities, as well as a network of service providers and sustainability professionals. These are based on the company’s emissions profile and directly address the indicators with the most significant reduction potential.
To meet the highest standards, all emissions calculations and proposed decarbonisation measures are developed by Plan A’s carbon accounting team. This consists of international scientists, researchers, and experts in emissions accounting, carbon reduction, sustainability and life cycle analysis.
What does it mean for your company?
It is really troublesome to find the right carbon management platform for your company, especially if you do not know which methodology and calculation they are using. That is why Plan A made it essential to have its CCF methodology certified by the most prestigious independent expert body. Companies can use Plan A’s platform with trust and security that the data calculated is accurate.
“We are incredibly proud of this certification by TÜV Rheinland. The transformation towards a sustainable economy is undeniably one of the most pressing challenges of our time. That is why, when developing our SaaS platform, it was of utmost importance for us to ensure that the emissions calculations and decarbonisation plans comply with internationally recognised and highest scientific standards and methodologies. To know that we have this certified thoroughly by one of the world’s leading verification service providers once again validates our unique approach.” Lubomila Jordanova, Co-Founder and CEO at Plan A, reveals.
